The cattle that are being raised for seed stock production, have been under a microscope since birth. We are vigilant in ensuring the seedstock we produce is predictable, consistent and of the highest quality for our customers.
When selecting the bulls and heifers that will be offered to our fellow cattleman, we consider the following factors. Longevity, calving ease, growth, foot/leg, overall structure and frame size. To ensure that our cattle will enhance and move your program forward in the years to come. We ensure that our seed stock come from a cow or cow family that has a proven track record and is flawless in their previous offspring.
Our cattle are never on creep feed. From weaning they go on a backgrounding ration till may. From there they will go to pasture. They come off of grass in October.
D&N Livestock was founded in 2003
by Dave Rajotte and Niel Kerslake. In the beginning D&N Livestock had a cow herd of 200 mother cows alongside 600 Ewes that they lambed out every year. They eventually dispersed the sheep in 2006 and put all of their focus and attention on the cow herd.
There have been a lot of challenges along the way, fighting through the post BSE economy to fighting the weather and constant market volatility.
We continued to push the bar and stay committed over the years to breeding and raising the highest quality seed stock in Canada.
We currently calve 1550 mother cows and AI 900 heifer calves every year.
